Sagar Morankar
Sagar Morankar is a dedicated student of Dhrupad and has been under the tutelage of Pt. Uday Bhawalkar in the Guru Shishya parampara since 1998. After high school he made a decision to pursue music full time and was awarded many scholarships. He is currently a musician scholar at the ITC Sangeet research academy, Kolkata, and performs Dhrupad Jugalbandi with his Guru bhai Prassanna Vishwanathan.
Prassanna Vishwanathan
Prassanna Vishwanathan started learning Dhrupad Vocal under Guru Pt. Uday Bhawalkar in 2007. Prior to that he had studied Khayal vocal rom Shri Kiran Kamath and Pt. Narayan Bodasand Tabla from Shri Vinod Pawaskar. Presently he works as a music producer and composer for media including TV, film and advertising. He performs Dhrupad Jugalbandi with his Guru bhai Sagar Morankar
Chintan Upadhyay
Born in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, Chintan Upadhyay started learning Dhrupad from Pt. Uday Bhawalkar in 2004 under the 'Guru Shishya Parampara'. He finished his 'Sangeet Alankaar' under Late Pt. Laxmipati Shukla and also learned from Shri Ashvin Andhariya. After that he did his M.A. in music from Lalit Kala Kendra, Pune University under the guidance of Dr. Vikas Kashalkar and Pt. Vijay Koparkar. He was awarded Junior Research Fellowship for Dhrupad studies in 2014 by Government of India. He is a graded artist at All India Radio. He has been teaching students and has conducted workshops in many places, in India and abroad and has performed on prestigious occasions at Uttaradhikar, Delhi, BaajaaGaajaa, Pune, and NCPA, Mumbai as well as several concerts abroad.
Meghana Sardar
Meghana is learning vocal music under the prestigious guidance of Guru Pandit Uday Bhawalkar since 2005. She has been a visiting artist in residence for Salisbury University, Maryland, USA since March 2016. She has been awarded the scholarship from The Ministry of Culture and the NCPA. She is a Scholar at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata, since 2012. She has performed on Insync television channel in the series ‘India Stage’ and is a graded artist of the All India Radio for Dhrupad. Born in 1987, Meghana undertook her initial music lessons from Smt. Sudha Deo, Dr. Mohan Darekar and Dr. Saleel Kulkarni.
Heena Kalgaonkar
Heena Kalgaonkar has been fortunate to have learnt Dhrupad under Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar at the Dhrupad Kendra, Bhopal. Since 2007 she has been learning from Pt. Uday Bhawalkar. She has performed at the Tansen Samaroh and the Ramkrishna Mission Gwalior, Mahila Dhrupad Mahotsav held in Bhopal in July 2012. She lives in Gwalior.
Kirit Singh
Kirit Singh MEng MMus is based in London. He initially studied Shastriya and Gurbani Sangeet from Ustad Gurdev Singh Namdhari and more recently Gurbani Sangeet with Ustad Harbhajan Singh Namdhari. He has been studying Dhrupad under Pt. Uday Bhawalkar since 2012 when he left his career as a Software Engineer to pursue music full time. Kirit is also working towards a Ph.D conducting research into Gurbani Sangeet.
Jay Singh
Jay Singh has taken Tabla and Kirtan lessons from Ustad Kulwinder Singh in Punjab for 3 years. He began studying Dhrupad in Pune under the Guru Shishya Parampara with Pt. Uday Bhwalkar in 2009. He is currently teaching and performing Gurmat Sangeet in Punjab.
Ashlesha Shintre
Ashlesha trained in Khayal under the guidance of Smt Ranjana Bhide in Pune for 7 years. She started learning Dhrupad from Pandit Uday Bhawalkar in 2005 shortly before she moved to the United States. While studying and later working in the US, she always nurtured her intention to return and learn from Panditji. In 2012 having realized this desire she restarted learning and was a scholar at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy. She continues her training in Pune and is a practicing yoga therapist.
Harkeerat Mangat
Harkeerat Mangat is an interdisciplinary artist and Dhrupad vocal student from Vancouver, Canada. He played the sitar and surbahar as a teenager and was soon after introduced to Dhrupad by Shri David Tsabar. In 2011, he began his musical training with Pt. Uday Bhawalkar. Mangat currently splits his time between Düsseldorf, Germany where he studies fine art at the Kunstakademie and India where he furthers his musical training under the guidance of his Guru. He is the recipient of the Early Career Development Award and Artist Scholarship from the BC Arts Council, Canada.
Rucha Kshirsagar
Rucha Kshirsagar has taken her initial lessons in Khayal Vocal from her uncle Shree. Mukund Kshirsagar and also got influenced by her father who plays Sitar. She resides in Mumbai and has been learning Dhrupad Vocal from Guruji Pt. Uday Bhawalkar ji since 2011.
She has Graduated from Mumbai University in Commerce Stream in 2015 and is continuing learning Dhrupad Vocal from Guruji Pt. Uday Bhawalkar ji.
Shruti Godbole
Shruti Godbole has learnt Khayal singing from Mrs Madhuri Ambekar. Later on she had started to receive guidance from Dr. Madhuri Joshi. She has completed Sangeet Alankar and M.A in music. She has been learning Dhrupad from Guru Pandit Uday Bhawalkar since 2007. She has completed her academic education with M.com. She is a founding member and president of ‘Madhukauns’. a Pune based music organization promoting Indian Classical Music.
Chintamani Natu
Chintamani Natu initially learnt Bhakti Sangeet and Bhav Geet from his father Mohan Moreshwar Natu. As his interest in classical music developed he went on to study under Guru Murlidhar Shidhaye up to Visharad at Tansen Sangeet Vidyalya, Chinchwad. He was inspired into Dhrupad by Pt. Uday Bhawalkar's performance at the Sawai Gandharva festival in 1997 and since 2000 has been learning Dhrupad from Guru Pt. Uday Bhawalkar.
